#WritersCoffeeClub 2: How much research does your setting require?
I'm trying to portray - as realistically as feasible - an alternate timeline that diverged in the Early Bronze Age. One major theme is the radical contingency of history.
So... a lifetime, really. I've had to synthesize almost all the odd collection of knowledge I've assembled, plus tons of research on a wide variety of subjects.
#TimeTravelAuthors 1: Tell us about your #TimeTravel story
One truth we forget constantly is that we knew time was curved before we learned space was, too. The cycles of time are older by far than our math to describe the gravitational curvature of space. Within these cycles exists my story, war with beginning and an end but no fixed duration. They continue until conditions for victory for one side or the other occur, and then the entire probability wave collapses, and history is written. Nothing is cast in stone until that moment. Jerodan exists to protect those moments. Time is the cage that will trap and defeat the Darkness.

One aspect of SECONDARY is how dangerous even a *little* time travel can be. The story is a worst-case scenario.
Lots of stories assume time travel means you can unscramble an egg. And maybe you can! Unscrambling a *timeline* is somewhat more difficult.

I don't know whether they've always been there, and I've only just started noticing them, but there seem to be a lot of weird signs around Glasgow at the moment. I spotted this one today in a window in the Hidden Lane. Love the Snacks Provided part, but going back and stopping yourself being born does open up all sorts of time travel paradoxes!
