Andy<p>It's been a long time since I played Catan and I’ve never owned a copy but after listening to the Cult Of The Old podcast episode about it, and with the release of the sixth edition, I decided to buy it. msaari<p>I played my first game of 1822CA yesterday. We had three players and used the Eastern Regional Scenario. This was my first play of any 1822 game. The premise is a bit scary, as the 1822 system has a ton of auctions throughout the whole game, but it turned out to be fine.</p><p>Players are bidding on three things: minor companies, private companies and major company concessions. Minors are straightforward small companies that can be acquired by majors. Private companies have special powers that can be used by companies who acquire them and often produce revenue for the player before that.</p><p>There are lots of random pieces in the setup so everything works out differently in each game. I bought three minor companies on the east end of the board and got the concessions for NTR and ICR which both start at that end. The minors built the rails that connected New Brunswick to Quebec and got the majors connected.</p><p>I had a good lead in the early game, but it didn't last. In the end, after 3 hours and 45 minutes of play, I was second: 10,125 – 8,620 – 6,413. LiteralGrill<p>Ya know, we're about to see a VERY interesting time in the world of board games due to tariffs.</p><p>I suspect a LOT more print and play games will be released from major publishers. That and a lot more RPGs will focus on .pdf releases and the like.</p><p>This is not a great thing, the tariffs suck, it's just more... Interesting.
