Trying a new #speedpaint approach. Black primer, base, wash, finer & finer dry brush, then #contrastpaint

True metal #slapchop?

Dexter: leadbelcher > nuln > runefang steel

What do you think? One stand out? All ? None?

Today's #MiniaturePainting and modelling. I've come up with a new strategy for the (very) multi-part PiperMakes minis, but unfortunately I didn't finish them (yet).

This was also my first attempt at panel lining. A 1:1 mix of black Aquadrop and flow aid did a wonderful job, together with my size 1 brush. The drones (and their bases) are essentially done now, at least until my acrylic rods arrive.

Today on the painting table - uwu drones and their bases. I used the 5:4:1 mix on the drones, and the 4:3:2:1 mix on the bases. This neatly shows the differences between those mixes.

One thing I _need_ to learn is timing. If I leave these mixes on too long, even with acrylic retarder, they bead up and become unremovable without leaving 'sunspots'. This isn't usually a problem on textured surfaces, but due to how flat these are, it's _super_ obvious here.

Several new #MiniaturePainting techniques here:

* (modified) Zorn palette
* Using base toppers to allow bases to be spray painted black separately without using masking
* 4:3:2:1 preshade (flow aid, black Aquadrop, water, acrylic retarder)

All told, I'm fairly happy with the outcome, though I admit it's not _quite_ how I imagined it. Technically, in the Zorn palette, black serves the role of blue... so they're secretly blue. As lore says.

Today's #MiniaturePainting . The avatar is going to be a _mission_ to paint just due to scale, but the choice of pyrrole red for the hair was 100% right. The infantry were a bit of an accident with a new preshade mix (4 parts flow aid, 3 parts black Aquadrop, 2 parts water, 1 part acrylic retarder), but the colours salvage them. Going to need some earthy colours for the bases, and maybe some more colours on the minis, but definitely better now than before.
