Finally I was able to discover my #Docker #containers automatically as services on my #gethomepage deployment. The issue was pretty simple and a stupid one in the end. 🫣 Running the homepage container as root when using Docker socket directly solved it. It is mentioned in the documentation, but I overlooked it for some reason. 🙄

I‘m still excited for the widget. Need to dig into building customized widgets. Anyone experiences?

Random appreciation post for @grafana: There are so many websites where the entries in their menus don't show the browser's right click menu. Possibly because of whatever JS trickery is used to show the menu?
But Grafana does it right: The "Explore" entry in every panel's three-dot-menu allows right-click -> open in new tab, so that I can open something in Explore while also keeping the dashboard open.

I wish that didn't feel special enough to warrant this post.

My biggest beef with #grafana is that it will silently rewrite the dashboard JSON that you upload, return a 200, and just act like everything's peachy.

Even the most basic "modified this, dropped that" message would be helpful.

The total amount of released video from #FOSDEM is now over one whole week! And we're still going!

As you can see from our #Grafana dashboard we had some bugs in the transcoding pipeline, but things are getting fixed and we're making good progress. We also added more VMs to the transcoding pool. The jump cut bug should also have been fixed.

If you have been waiting for a re-cut or not submitted a cut for your talk yet, this Sunday is a great time to take a look!

🌟 Self-Hosting Journey Update! 🌟

After weeks of work, I'm excited to share my self-hosted setup! 🎉 I'm running everything on a Raspberry Pi 500 with Stormux (Arch Linux ARM-based), 8 GB RAM, and a 512 GB SD card (planning to upgrade to SSD or NAS as soon as I can afford it). Here's what I’ve built so far:

🔧 Services in Action:
- Development: Forgejo, Code-Server, Woodpecker CI
- Productivity: Joplin Server, Monica CRM, Homepage dashboard
- Monitoring: Prometheus + Alertmanager, Grafana, Netdata, Uptime Kuma
- Networking: AdGuardHome + Unbound, Tailscale VPN
- Tools: MiniFlux, Linkding, TheLounge
- Management: Portainer, Cockpit, Watchtower

🔒 Security & Access:
- Caddy + Cloudflare Zero Trust/Access for reverse proxy & SSO
- FirewallD + Fail2ban for extra protection

📧 Emails Powered by Zoho ZeptoMail:
All email-capable services (e.g., Forgejo, Joplin) are configured for reliable notifications.

💾 Backups: Using IDrive's 5 TB plan for peace of mind.

This journey has been challenging yet rewarding! 🚀 I'd love to hear your thoughts—especially tips on scaling storage or optimizing performance. Let's chat! 💬
