The Quematrice quest is short and sweet. Nice source of a solid ingredient, too. It's fun to see if I can paralyze the monster twice and cut the tail before the fight ends :P

Man I don't know whose idea it was to put actual tiny little timers on buff emblems on the buff bar, but I would like to open mouth kiss them on the observation deck of the Seattle Space Needle on New Year's Eve, while I nervously finger the engagement ring I'm about to present to them in my off-hand.

We shall have a spring wedding.

The most complimentary thing I can say about the food in is, this just straight up looks like something I'd eat on a normal day.

Me: It's weird the final upgrade of this sword is so weak, I've seen stronger stuff out of the low end of the RNG weapons. Weird balance.

Me: *pushes right once on the upgrade tree*

Me: ...Oh.

...Huh. Gore Magala is now classified as a "Demi Elder." That's odd, usually it gets a ??? classification, since it's *technically* an Elder but only gets fully classified as such once it evolves.

...They straight up made a junk taxon for their junk taxon, wow this game's ecology IS realistic huh :P

Normally I'd be kinda miffed about the way Magala shows up in like every game in spite of it supposedly having a hugely long reproductive cycle that only completes every couple hundred years

but MH4U was my first MH game and I've got this headcanon about that game being my hunter's first assignment so she ended up helping to discover Gore. So now when it shows up she's like "we must stop meeting like this. Just send me a letter next time."

My hunter's being followed by a nigh immortal nonbinary edgy dark knight monster who keeps causing problems to create reasons to meet because they're too shy to just ask for a date

"Kut-Ku shouldn't be this annoying" you fool. Kut-ku is always annoying. This is but a fraction of his obnoxious potential.

It's nice when you're appreciated in a party :D <3

I keep wishing they'll buff Mushroomancer and they never do :/

Here's the thing; whenever people talk about a support build in MH, there's SOMEONE who recommends Mushroomancer. But honestly, it's not that great.

Yes, it takes less time to eat a mushroom than to drink a potion. And yes, it lets you double up on the items whose effects the mushrooms mimic -- so, for example, 20 Potions! And yes, it's a relatively cheap skill -- only three Lv. 1 gem slots.

But.

For a start, the mushrooms duplicate the *weaker* items -- Potions, not Mega Potions, Demondrug, not Mega Demondrug -- or items you really don't need that many of to begin with.

Secondly, three Lv. 1 gem slots becomes a bigger deal the further into the game you get. This is *especially* true for a support build, where you still have to slot in offensive skills in addition to your support skills -- you still have to contribute to DPS, after all.

Never mind the fact that, in most MH games, it's not actually that hard to scrounge up the full list of items required to combine into the full-strength support items. It's easier than ever in Wilds, with the gathering support you get from the villagers. You should have an easy pipeline for everything except Nourishing Extract by the time you hit endgame without really trying very hard.

So yeah. Avoid Mushroomancer. Use that space to slot in Free Meal or Speed Eating. Hell, I'd rather run Defense Up.

Anyway, my ACTUAL advice for people who want to run a support build?

Don't stop at healing and buffing. Look for other ways to help the party.

Bring the stuff to build extra traps. Run a Paralysis or Sleep weapon. Use a blunt weapon to inflict KO and Exhaust. Focus on the legs to get trips. Learn when and where to use Flash and Sonic Bombs. Every flinch is free DPS, my friends.

Tail cut so smooth it makes you forget he immediately turned and bit me in the ass after this <3

When the game came out a week ago but you're obsessive and you've already run through like 90% of the content and now you're waiting for updates that are like a month away

...Which is exactly what happened with Rise when it first came out and, I feel certain, will also happen with the NEXT MH game to release.

What can I say, I'm predictable.

WRT the difficulty of Wilds, I fell less like it's an easier game than Rise and more like they just... give you all the stuff you could get by running around the map for five minutes pre-fight in Rise.

So instead of grabbing spiders and toads for extra knockdown, they just give you extra from wounds. Instead of running around grabbing bugs to boost your Atk, they just drop the monster's max HP.

I'm not saying it's *better* just that it's how it feels.

I will say getting four -- OR MORE -- Paralysis procs in a seven-minute fight ON TOP OF wound knockdown, traps, trips, and KO does feel overpowered.

Anyway, I eagerly await the new monster updates and the inevitable G-rank expansion <3

I tell you what, I am definitely looking forward to High Rank Zoh Shia. I hope it gets an armor set eventually.

Played a little Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for a bit of historical perspective on the series

You know what? It's a miracle this goddamn series ever got off the ground.

Testing out the (possibly bugged?) interaction between the SnS and the Corrupted Mantle. Every tap of the Y gets you an additional damage instance? Which also applies status damage? I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to be able to inflict Paralysis twice in thirty seconds.

...Actually I bet this does some really silly damage with Blast weapons.

Hey, it's my first actual, legitimate, hey-that-was-rude cart! :D

Me: I'd like a Lv. 3 Paralysis gem, please.

MHWilds: Beetroot? You want fucking beetroot?

Me: ingredience

Sometimes I go all day with no crashes, sometimes I crash three times in two hours

AAA PC releases ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's certainly a long way to have come from being pushed off a sandskiff in your underclothes by Jhen Mohran in the opening of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, I tell you what. :P

As becomes more popular, it's gonna be hard to explain to new fans that once upon a time, nobody in the series had actual proper names.

I'm kinda done with for now, which sucks because I don't want to be, but I have nothing else to do in-game. At least until April when they add Mizutsune.

Boo.

Anyway maybe by then it'll be less crashy >_>

People talking up Paralysis in Wilds is weird for me. I've been using it since 4U, it's always been good. What made them finally notice?

@CactuarJoe my guess is theres just a ton of new players this time around so theyre noticing for the first time
