@outofprintarchive That is a shock, yes. But Bravely Default is just 40 Euro. I could accept a price of 90 Euro a little bit more if all the content is on the card (I payed around the same for a „full on card“ Mario Kart 8) but I would guess it gets also DLC in the future.

@gumbario

Problem there is that Bravely Default and Street Fighter 6 are just empty cards with a key on them to allow you to download the game digitally from the eshop.

@outofprintarchive Given the landscape of physical game availability the current gen may be my last. Sony are making it clear how they feel about physical games and this move from Nintendo plus their fake cartridges that just allow a download they announced at the same time makes it feel that they aren't far behind Sony's thinking. Sad times.

@kemra102
Sadly that seems the way things are finally going…

@outofprintarchive *well akshually…* adjusted for inflation…

I remember some SNES games being in that range, and that’s 30ish years ago 💸

@mofo2
I paid 4000 franks for Street Fighter 2 on SNES, which comes to €100.
And I’m definitely not going back to paying those kinds of prices.

The backlog is way too big already and I have tons of cheap games that I’m still planning on picking up.

@outofprintarchive Backlog, the only real monster 😅

@mofo2 or saviour.
Depends on how you look at it. 😅

@outofprintarchive I'm getting annoyed by cost of physical releases, now we've moved from standard physical release cost to "limited edition maximum cost" but there isn't a standard edition because not enough people want to buy physical (allegedly).

Mind you, I do appreciate the games I'm talking about are mostly from smaller developers who likely can't finance physical version themselves and have to partner with limited edition agency.

@outofprintarchive :blobcatglare: what the actual fuck? The Big Games Industry surely sucks more and more. But is the digital cheaper?

@stefan
Digital is €10 cheaper.
Seems there will be two price points.
Physical €80 or 90
Digital €70 or 80

Depending on a game by game basis.

For comparison, I just got Xenoblade X for €40 physically!
