I wonder if there were so many Victorian period pieces in the 60s because the Victorians loved bright colors (when they weren't choking on smog) and Technicolor in the 60s was relatively new and exciting.

@trixter So many things in this film were driven by simple randomness. Someone falling, someone bumps a lever, someone forgets a burning furnace. And then the accidental genocide of an entire civilization. Which no one feels the tiniest bit of remorse about.
