...Which is exactly what happened with Rise when it first came out and, I feel certain, will also happen with the NEXT MH game to release.

What can I say, I'm predictable.

WRT the difficulty of Wilds, I fell less like it's an easier game than Rise and more like they just... give you all the stuff you could get by running around the map for five minutes pre-fight in Rise.

So instead of grabbing spiders and toads for extra knockdown, they just give you extra from wounds. Instead of running around grabbing bugs to boost your Atk, they just drop the monster's max HP.

I'm not saying it's *better* just that it's how it feels.

I will say getting four -- OR MORE -- Paralysis procs in a seven-minute fight ON TOP OF wound knockdown, traps, trips, and KO does feel overpowered.

Anyway, I eagerly await the new monster updates and the inevitable G-rank expansion <3

I tell you what, I am definitely looking forward to High Rank Zoh Shia. I hope it gets an armor set eventually.

Played a little Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for a bit of historical perspective on the series

You know what? It's a miracle this goddamn series ever got off the ground.

Testing out the (possibly bugged?) interaction between the SnS and the Corrupted Mantle. Every tap of the Y gets you an additional damage instance? Which also applies status damage? I'm pretty sure I'm not supposed to be able to inflict Paralysis twice in thirty seconds.

...Actually I bet this does some really silly damage with Blast weapons.

Hey, it's my first actual, legitimate, hey-that-was-rude cart! :D

Me: I'd like a Lv. 3 Paralysis gem, please.

MHWilds: Beetroot? You want fucking beetroot?

Me: ingredience

Sometimes I go all day with no crashes, sometimes I crash three times in two hours

AAA PC releases ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It's certainly a long way to have come from being pushed off a sandskiff in your underclothes by Jhen Mohran in the opening of Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate, I tell you what. :P

As becomes more popular, it's gonna be hard to explain to new fans that once upon a time, nobody in the series had actual proper names.

I'm kinda done with for now, which sucks because I don't want to be, but I have nothing else to do in-game. At least until April when they add Mizutsune.

Boo.

Anyway maybe by then it'll be less crashy >_>

People talking up Paralysis in Wilds is weird for me. I've been using it since 4U, it's always been good. What made them finally notice?

Neat, High Rank Zoh Shia in the Title Update :D Armor and weapons look *seriously* anime. Arch Tempered Ray Dau coming in about a month, too, I hope he's not the only AT monster. They teased Lagiacrus for Summer, too, that'll be fun. :D

Hhgh. Okay. So it turns out War Cry and Demon Powder share the same buff slot. In spite of War Cry being an armor skill and Demon Powder being an item. Sure, okay. Fine. I'll just revamp my whole goddamn build, why not.

Also it appears Flayer doesn't activate *at all* in the training room, so now I have to go do live fire exercises with some goddamn Single Player Quematrice to figure out if it works at all. >_>

Also Inspiration! Does it affect other players or only you? Who knows! Stat buffs *don't show up on the Palico Stat screen*! At all! You use a Wide-Range Might Seed and the cat flashes red *and their attack doesn't change!* So now I gotta pester someone to help me test this!

>:(

Okay. New setup, running Inspiration even though it does NOT affect allies, even though it did in Rise >_>

On the plus side, I now have room for Self-improvement, Blindsided, and an extra level of Evade Window.

Also dropped Flayer because the way it works is intensely stupid.

Creating wounds acts like status effects -- each attack has a CHANCE to add an amount of damage to a hidden buildup bar, which, when full, results in a status taking effect. Or, in this case, a wound being created. Flayer adds a strict percentage to this, somewhere between 10-30%. BUT, only before any sign of the wound is apparent -- which is only like halfway to actual WOUND CREATION!

So you burn like FIVE WHOLE SKILL LEVELS for *a chance* to inflict SLIGHTLY MORE status damage on your way to an actual wound -- but only for the first part of the process!

What the fuck?

Anyway Inspiration at least has some synergy with my setup, and Blindsider is a skill I've been wanting to add in for a while now. So, y'know, not a total loss.

"Here's my optimized meta Wide-Range build!"

I am begging you to please stop. If you are obsessing over your own DPS on a *support build* you are doing it wrong.

How much DPS should a support build do? Enough. It should do Enough.

Anyway what kind of nutjob runs Coalescence on a SUPPORT BUILD? :/

I feel like of all the monsters in , Chatacabra would be the most delicious. Braised Chatacabra thigh is probably amazing. I bet it'd make great tacos.

I think Balahara would be edible, but I feel like its meat would land somewhere between scallops and snakes which makes it a strictly acquired taste. Like, there are definitely people out there bragging that they love Balahara tenderloin specifically to watch people gag.

Quematrice feels everyone would EXPECT it to be edible -- like chicken! -- but you fry it up and it just tastes like a failed chemistry experiment. And they go, oh yeah, BRUTE wyvern, not bird wyvern. :/

Inedible: Lala Barina, Rompopolo, Nu Udra, Jin Dahaad

Actually I bet Xu Wu is pretty gross, too. The spears it throws at you are made of mucus, which means it's gotta have a complex snot delivery system in all of its arms. Can't make calamari outta that, you get buried in rapidly solidifiying -- and SHARP -- snot D:

Uth Duna's probably edible. It only hunts during the Downpour, so I bet it's sedentary for the rest of the time, meaning it's gonna be very fatty. Oo, it's probably like hippo meat, really. Thick layer of flab, but the meat's pretty good :D

I'm torn on Hirabami, it's a Leviathan but it LOOKS like an insect. I think it has an exoskeleton, too? I dunno, maybe you'd get people treating it like an oversized grasshopper, but I can't shake the feeling it'd be like chewing on a centipede.

What's left... Ajarakan? Eh, I feel like eating monkey meat is probably a bad idea. Little too close to home, y'know? Anyway it's covered in metal and spreads blast powder, that can't be good for the gut.

As for Ray Dau, sure, go ahead, try chewing on the living lightning rod. I'm sure nothing bad'll happen.

All of the Guardian monsters taste like chalk and salt, it's horrible :/

I have now crafted and fully upgraded every Sword & Shield available. I am now ready for the first Title Update :D

I have now run out of Zenny trying to craft every piece of armor, now I actually have to do quests again :p

Oh I really hope the update tonight doesn't break anything, I finally got the game running without crashing too much :/

Mizutsune was a fun fight :D

HR Zoh Shia's gonna have to wait for tomorrow tho D:

sleep

Ha, High Rank Zoh Shia's a big ol' jerk, huh :D Nice to finally have a fight that lasts more than ten minutes.

Shame the armor set's so wacky. It speeds health regen and doesn't really do anything else that's useful, unfortunately. Nice bit of fashion, tho. Weapons, too, I'm definitely using the Zoh Shia SnS once we get layered weapons.

Huh, lots of people saying the update introduced a lot of graphical problems and tanked their framerate... Mine actually got *better*?

...Fuckin' video games, man. :/

"Zoh Shia triple carted me!" "My first actual quest failure was to HR Zoh Shia" "This one's for real, man!"

Me, playing a support build:

The fun thing about Tempered Mizutsune in is it's every bit as fast as it was in Rise, but we don't have Wirebugs this time. So when it beats your ass your ass is, in fact, *beat.* :D

Jin Dahaad having its own arena as the Apex of the Cliffs kind of bugs me.

Like, it's the *apex predator* of the region... And it doesn't actually interact with any of the animals who live there :/

I know, I know, they had programming problems, they couldn't get it to work, but c'mon :/

Man, I am super looking forward to Lagiacrus. I haven't fought one of those since Generations, that was on the goddamn 3DS. Can't wait to see what they do with him :D

The idea of a Sleep hammer is hilarious to me. Yes, I'm going to use this huge hulking hammer to mash your brains in, knocking you out. And THEN I'm going to inflict Sleep! :P

Momma said knock you out, then knock you out a slightly different way :P

Heh, they changed the requirements for rewards from the Time Trial arena quest things. Dropped the "special reward for the top 10,000 fastest times" thing, now they're giving you the first two rewards just for finishing and the special reward for getting an A-rank.

Given how many people were cheating -- the top times were literally all 0'00'00' -- it's probably for the best.

old.reddit.com/r/MonsterHunter

...Is it really still two weeks until they release Arch-Tempered Ray Dau? :/

Well, I'm at HR 233, I've crafted every SnS, finished all the quests, and made every armor set except the full Artian set and the Commission set (stupid goddamn tickets don't actually exist I swear to god) so I feel like this is a relatively good point to put the game down until the next Title Update. Or at least until AT Ray Dau.

Guess I could start that Death Cleric run of BG3 if I wanted.

@CactuarJoe don’t call it a comeback!

@CactuarJoe Pretty much the same. The only armour I have left is the Commission. Farming the tickets is a bitch, but if you set the requested shipment to Misc, you'll get them. But you have to buy all the weapons from the ship as well to increase the chances of getting them. Once you've bought all the weapons once, they stop appearing. You can also getting the barrel bowling tickets from him.

@CactuarJoe jin can interact with all the other iceshard cliff monsters technically. it can rarely show up on the main map in certain spots and it can fight you or the other monsters. if you repel it from there it goes to the rimechain peak and spawns as an actual jin quest.

@CactuarJoe i havent fought it yet, is zoh shia actually that tough? 👀

@ObserverSourdough My experience is a little skewed because I run a support build -- I could count on one hand the number of quests I failed in World and Rise combined -- but if nothing else I'm running through Mega Potions pretty fast. I'd say it's a step or two up from Tempered Gore.
