Damnit, Bonfire of the Vanities is turning into a slog. The prologue and first chapter gave me such high hopes, but the further I get into this the less I care about any of these characters.
Which I know might be the point.
@wheeljack Yeah...I never understood the hype that book got, the deeper into it goes the more it's obvious how deeply out of touch on so many different things Wolfe is, and the characters are all deeply unpleasant
@wheeljack Try reading Less Than Zero. The title aptly describes the amount sympathy you will have for every single character in the entire story. Yet, it's a great book!
