Trump #Tariffs Cause Chaos on Ebay as Every #Hobby Becomes Logistical Minefield
Buying cameras, games, skincare, watches, & anything else from #overseas just became far more complicated, slow, & expensive.
#Deminimis exemption, allowed people to buy things internationally without paying tariffs if items cost <$800, made it very easy and less expensive to get into #hobbies like film photography, retro video games, and vintage fashion, to name a few.

"... if you want to know why markets aren’t reacting to the risk of very bad policy if Trump takes over the Fed, you should know that major market reactions to that kind of risk are rare.
... markets probably won’t react strongly until the disaster is already upon us."

Paul Krugman · Why Aren’t Markets Freaking Out?By Paul Krugman

Until now, I’ve been as fair as I possibly could. If the only reason is nationality, then I refuse to take part in trade wars. It is absolute hypocrisy for a European to play along with that. But if the U.S. imposes tariffs ruthless enough to crush even the most ordinary business, then the fairest response is a trade war. From now on, when quality is equal, American origin has become a disadvantage.

Who really pays for tariffs?

Goldman Sachs data shows the burden shifts over time:
• June: 64% businesses, 22% consumers, 14% exporters
• October: 8% businesses, 67% consumers, 25% exporters

Tariffs may start as a business cost, but eventually filter down to households as higher prices.

Do tariffs build resilience or just reallocate costs?

"President #Trump is not only working to stop a transition away from #fossil fuels in the U.S., he is pressuring other countries to relax their pledges to fight #climatechange and instead burn more #oil, #gas and #coal [by] applying #tariffs, #levies and other mechanisms [...] His animus is particularly focused on the #wind #industry , which is a well-established and growing source of #electricity in several #European countries as well as in #China and #Brazil ."

President Trump met with Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, in Scotland last month. He denounced wind power as a “con job.”

Yep, this person has an additional issue of not having a doctor here, but when all the naltrexone powder is gone at the pharmacy I am screwed.

Sure they can get 50 mg tablets and compound them into my tiny 0.5 mg dose (medicare even paid for them that way) but it doesn’t work as well. Maybe I’m just extra sensitive to medication but they didn’t feel evenly dosed that way.

Tariffs just cut off my access to the medications I need to survive : r/cfs reddit.com/r/cfs/comments/1n1f
