Collaging another first layer in one of my board books. It looks so raw and full of possibility in this phase!
Look at this #AI BS.
A single #pigment paint cannot be *both* a natural earth element and a dye. Mutually exclusive. Not at all the same thing, and the archival properties of each are worlds apart.
But an AI-of-little-brain of course finds traces of both on the web and 'compromises' by indiscrimnately presenting both as true.
It's become quite a chore to use the web for fact finding.
Caveat emptor. Be vigilant, folks.

Today's bracelet is a black and white swirl.
One of the things I love about these is they're so easy and very procedural. The first steps of making the base are so mindless that I can do it even if I don't feel like it.
I have no idea where this gel print of my cat got off to, but I did find this picture on my phone.
Sometimes you experiment and it comes out weird, but weird is perfect. Which is more or less how I feel about this print.
I seem to be addicted to cutting out shapes with my Sizzix die cut machine now, seeing some of the papers I've made in a new light now that they're cut... I'm anticipating I'll be wondering what to do with a ton of paper hearts soon.
I wasn't super happy with the transparency of the tracing paper I used, but it was a test of a new to me paper and wasn't expecting perfection.
I don't seem to mind on this piece because the muted effect of the edge of the circles seems to really pull them forward.
Collage to the rescue! Everything used in this collage came from gel print fails!
It's been so humid lately that I've been having a lot of gel print fails due to the paper not drying and splitting when pulled.
It's easy to get discouraged when this happens, especially when it looks like it should have been a killer pull, but it's really an opportunity to get creative.
Sometimes I thumb through the gel prints I've made and wonder, "What did I do to make that one?"
This is definitely one of those prints.
I've been really impressed with the thrifted cardstock I picked up. Started playing around with adding some collage layers and additional paint to this print and it hardly warped at all.
Super pleased with how this one came out!
I picked up some cardstock from Goodwill yesterday for $2 and have been really pleased with the pulls I'm getting from it.
Curious to see how it holds up to multiple layers and collaging, but this one might be done as is.
My mind feels as chaotic as this piece. I'm trying to make sense of all of the feelings that happen all at once, and then let them go.

Sometimes it feels like an absolute drudgery to get into the swing of things with my art practice.
The constant travel my life currently requires inevitably slows things down and I have to be more creative and intentional with including it into my life, and sometimes resistance wins out.
As frustrating as this is to lose momentum, all I can choose to do is to keep working on it today.
Today I’m playing with some gelli plate monoprint that I digitized and inserted layers of illustrations I made for an ongoing Little Red Riding Hood project.
I think it’s a step closer to what I’m aiming for, but I have more exploring to do!
